Chloe in Paris

Chloe in Paris is a 110 sqm café in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu — a Seoul neighborhood whose European references and slow pedestrian rhythm have made it a natural setting for cafés that translate elsewhere. The project does not imitate Paris, but lifts a particular quality of Parisian everyday life — the unhurried, intimate, faintly worn warmth of a corner café — and grounds it within the texture of Korean masonry and woodwork.

The material palette assembles painted brick, plywood, wood-stained timber, and tile into a composition that is warm without being decorative. Each surface carries a small history of touch - the slight roughness of brick under paint, the grain of stained timber, the unevenness of glazed tile - so that the room reads not as a newly built space pretending to be old, but as a genuine accumulation of small, careful gestures.

Chloe in Paris is, in essence, a small project about transposition: about moving the atmosphere of one city's quieter moments into another, without losing the honesty of either.

클로이인패리스는 마포구 연남동에 자리한 110sqm의 카페입니다. 유럽적 레퍼런스와 느린 보행의 리듬으로 인해, 다른 장소를 번역하는 카페들이 자연스럽게 자리잡는 동네인 연남동에서, 이 프로젝트는 파리를 모방하지 않습니다. 대신 파리 일상의 특정한 자질  - 서두르지 않고, 친밀하며, 희미하게 닳은 모서리 카페의 따뜻함 - 을 길어 올려, 한국의 벽돌과 목공의 질감 안에 자리잡게 합니다.

물성은 페인트칠된 벽돌, 합판, 우드스테인 처리된 목재, 그리고 타일을 따뜻하지만 장식적이지 않은 구성으로 모아냅니다. 각 표면은 작은 손길의 역사를 담고 있습니다 - 페인트 아래 벽돌의 약간의 거칠음, 스테인 처리된 목재의 결, 유약 타일의 고르지 않음 - 그래서 공간은 오래된 척 새로 지어진 것이 아니라, 작고 신중한 제스처들의 진정한 축적으로 읽힙니다.

클로이인패리스는 본질적으로 전치(轉置)에 관한 작은 프로젝트입니다. 한 도시의 조용한 순간들의 분위기를 다른 도시로 옮겨오되, 어느 쪽의 정직함도 잃지 않으면서 행하는: 그것이 이 공간의 의도입니다.
