Dosowu

DOSOWU is a curated clothing shop in Seogyo-dong, near Hongdae, designed for visitors the brand calls "Persona Designers" - people who construct their identity through the deliberate selection of what they wear. Within just 52 sqm, the project balances the intimacy required for considered selection against the visual generosity that retail demands.

The material palette is composed of three quietly precise elements: interior film, stainless steel, and carpet. Film and stainless steel form the backdrop, recessing into the architecture so that each garment can hold its own visual weight. Carpet softens the floor, slowing the pace of movement and inviting visitors to linger over the curation rather than scan it. Lighting is restrained, cast to fall on the products themselves rather than on the shell of the room.

DOSOWU is, in essence, a project about retreating: about a small retail space stepping back so that the act of selection, and the people performing it, can step forward.

도소우는 서울 마포구 서교동, 홍대 권역에 자리한 큐레이션 의류매장입니다. 브랜드가 'Persona Designers'라 부르는 방문객들 - 자신이 입는 것의 신중한 선택을 통해 정체성을 구축하는 사람들 - 을 위해 디자인된 공간입니다. 작은 공간 안에서 진행되는 이 프로젝트는 사려 깊은 선택을 위한 친밀함과 리테일이 요구하는 시각적 너그러움 사이의 균형을 잡습니다.

물성은 조용히 정밀한 세 가지 요소로 구성됩니다. 인테리어 필름, 스테인리스 스틸, 그리고 카펫. 필름과 스테인리스 스틸은 배경이 되어 건축 안으로 뒤로 물러서며, 각 의류가 자신의 시각적 무게를 가질 수 있도록 합니다. 카펫은 바닥을 부드럽게 하여 움직임의 속도를 늦추고, 방문객들이 큐레이션을 훑어보는 것이 아니라 머무르며 음미할 수 있도록 초대합니다. 조명은 절제되어, 공간의 껍질이 아니라 제품 그 자체 위에 떨어지도록 배치됩니다.

도소우는 본질적으로 물러섬에 관한 프로젝트입니다. 작은 리테일 공간이 한 발 뒤로 물러섬으로써, 선택이라는 행위와 그것을 수행하는 사람들이 한 발 앞으로 나설 수 있도록: 그것이 이 공간의 의도입니다.
