HyundaiEP Dangjin

HyundaiEP Dangjin is the renovation of a control room and office complex within the Hyundai EP manufacturing facility in Dangjin, South Chungcheong. Across 422 sqm, the project translates the operational rigor of the factory floor into the spatial language of the workspace itself — a quiet proposition that the values of simplicity and honesty governing the production line should also govern the rooms where decisions are made.

The material palette is deliberately restrained: paint, glass, and OA flooring. There are no decorative gestures, no narrative finishes — only the components that a working environment actually requires, treated with the same care and precision that the facility itself demands of its products. Glass partitions allow the visual hierarchy of the space to remain legible from any vantage point, while the OA floor permits the workspace to evolve as the operations beneath it evolve.

The control room and the office are conceived as parts of the same continuum rather than separate functional zones. The boundary between monitoring and decision-making is dissolved into a shared spatial atmosphere, allowing operational awareness and administrative judgment to flow into one another without friction. The space, in this sense, is not an interior project so much as an extension of the factory's logic — applied to the rooms where its people work.

HyundaiEP 당진은 충청남도 당진의 현대EP 생산 시설 내 컨트롤룸과 사무실 공간의 리노베이션 프로젝트입니다. 422sqm의 공간에서, 이 프로젝트는 공장 현장의 운영적 엄정함을 업무 공간의 공간 언어로 번역합니다. 생산 라인을 지배하는 단순함과 정직함의 가치가, 의사 결정이 이루어지는 공간 또한 지배해야 한다는 조용한 제안입니다.

물성은 의도적으로 절제되어 있습니다. 페인트, 유리, OA 플로어 — 장식적인 제스처도, 서사적인 마감도 없습니다. 작업 환경이 실제로 필요로 하는 요소들만이, 공장이 자신의 제품에 요구하는 것과 동일한 정밀함과 주의로 다루어집니다. 유리 파티션은 어떤 시점에서도 공간의 시각적 위계가 명료하게 읽히도록 하고, OA 플로어는 그 아래의 운영이 진화함에 따라 작업 공간 또한 진화할 수 있게 합니다.

컨트롤룸과 사무실은 분리된 기능적 구역이 아닌 동일한 연속체의 부분으로 구상되었습니다. 모니터링과 의사 결정 사이의 경계는 공유된 공간적 분위기 안에서 해체되어, 운영적 인식과 관리적 판단이 마찰 없이 서로에게로 흘러들어갑니다. 이 의미에서 이 공간은 인테리어 프로젝트라기보다는 공장 자체의 논리가 사람들이 일하는 방으로 확장된 결과입니다.
