La Joconde

La Joconde is an 84 sqm dessert café in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi-do. The project takes its name from Leonardo's portrait — "La Joconde," the French name for the Mona Lisa — and translates that reference into a quietly retro mood: warm, slightly nostalgic, slightly faded, like the texture of a well-loved photograph.

The material palette is intentionally modest: plywood, wood-stained timber, interior film, and paint. None of these materials announce themselves; together they construct a backdrop that holds dessert and conversation as the foreground. Light is soft and indirect, creating the kind of slow, golden interior that feels less like a contemporary café and more like a borrowed afternoon from a previous decade.

La Joconde is, in essence, a small café about sweetness — both literal and emotional — and about the spatial care required to make a small room feel like a deliberate retreat from the present.

라조콩드는 경기도 광명에 자리한 84sqm의 디저트 카페입니다. 프로젝트의 이름은 레오나르도 다 빈치의 초상화 — 모나리자의 프랑스식 이름인 'La Joconde' — 에서 따왔으며, 그 레퍼런스를 조용히 레트로한 무드로 번역합니다. 따뜻하고, 약간은 노스탤직하며, 약간은 바랜 듯한, 오래 사랑받은 사진의 질감과 같은.

물성은 의도적으로 절제되어 있습니다 — 합판, 우드 스테인 처리된 목재, 인테리어 필름, 그리고 페인트. 어느 자재도 자신을 주장하지 않으며, 함께 디저트와 대화가 전경이 될 수 있는 배경을 구성합니다. 조명은 부드럽고 간접적이어서, 컨템포러리 카페라기보다는 이전 시대로부터 빌려온 어느 오후처럼 느껴지는 느리고 황금빛이 도는 인테리어를 만들어냅니다.
