In the middle of the alley outside Seongsu-dong, you can face a blue wall with a small window and a small vacant lot. The entrance is hidden on the side of the building and does not attract attention. In a small open space in front of the blue wall, people freely stand, sit, talk and drink coffee in their own form. Momento Brewers is not a brand that simply experiences a high-quality coffee or a beautiful space. But it is designed by defining the entire activity there as a brand. To make the whole act a brand, Momento Brewers was designed as a standing bar that limits seating and instead provides open space.

The interior of the shop is divided into two spaces. A bar space where you can chat with a barista and an empty space where you can drink coffee and appreciate the space and exhibition works. Those two spaces are separated by concrete walls, and both are connected to outer space through the windows on the brick wall. The windowsill is a critical element in connecting the inside with the outside. The window has windowsills on both sides of the inside and outside, and it is used as a standing table where coffee can be placed as it is. Therefore, people naturally lean against the wall and drink coffee, and the small vacant lot in front of the shop becomes a small park to enjoy freely. This act creates the atmosphere of the brand as it is.

If the act itself is the brand's essence, the brand's DNA is presented in a way that deals with the material. All materials are processed so that users can comfortably experience their original beauty. The decoration of the outer wall and inside flooring is removed, so the structure is shown as it is. Rough cement bricks and concrete parts are painted to maintain their shape and enjoy the texture. The coffee bar and bench were rubbed by fabric several times with wood stain to show the beauty of the wood grain, and the soft touch of it could be enjoyed by texture sensory. The main front door is made entirely of steel and has an oil finish to prevent rusting and give it a heavy and cold sensory experience.

성수동 외곽 골목 한가운데에서, 작은 창문과 작은 공터가 있는 푸른색 벽을 마주한다. 벽 앞의 작은 열린 공간에서 사람들은 각자의 모습으로 자유롭게 서고, 앉고, 이야기하고, 커피를 마신다. 모멘토 브루어스는 단순히 커피나 공간의 아름다움을 경험하는 브랜드가 아니고 그곳에서 이루어지는 사람들의 행위 전체를 하나의 브랜드로 정의하였다.

매장 내부는 바리스타와 담소를 나눌 수 있는 바 공간과 커피를 마시며 공간과 전시 작품을 감상할 수 있는 빈 공간, 2개의 공간으로 나누어져 있다. 두 공간은 콘크리트 벽으로 분리되어 있으며 동시에 창을 통해 외부공간과 연결되어 있다. 좌석이 제한된 공간은 대신 서서 커피를 마실 수 있도록 디자인 되어, Bar나 벽에 기대어 커피와 공간을 가볍게 즐기다 떠난다. 가볍게 스쳐가는 공간은 그 가벼움이 좋아 다시 찾는 장소가 되고, 이 행위 전체가 브랜드를 만들어낸다.

행위는 브랜드의 본질이고, 브랜드의 DNA는 재료에서 표현된다. 모든 자재는 자재가 가진 본질적 아름다움을 경험할 수 있도록 가공되었다. 외벽과 바닥은 장식을 제거하여 구조를 그대로 보여주며 시멘트 벽돌과 콘크리트에 도색을 하여 형태와 질감을 강조한다. 목재는 스테인을 천으로 여러번 문질러 가공하여 나뭇결을 강조하며 부드러운 촉감을 느낄 수 있다. 주 출입구는 스틸로 제작하고 오일 처리하여 무겁고 차가운 감각적 경험을 준다.

Office 1969 : Leesungdang Annex Regeneration

Office 1969: Leesungdang Annex Regeneration is a renovation project in Gunsan that transforms the annex building of Leesungdang, Korea's oldest bakery, into a contemporary workspace through minimal intervention. The annex, built in 1969, maintains its original form to this day, preserving memories of that time.

We approached this project with respect for Leesungdang's rich historical context dating back to 1945, striving to preserve the building's original form as much as possible. We visualized layers of time through the contrast between exposed original structures and new elements, while raising the floor level in the executive office to secure views through the windows, simultaneously satisfying spatial hierarchy and functionality.

The main challenge was ensuring structural stability of this 50-year-old building while maximizing its original architectural features. We preserved the exposed concrete ceilings and columns, treating new elements to clearly distinguish them from existing features, creating a visual dialogue between past and present.

Our design follows the principle of minimal intervention.

We raised the floor level in the executive office to enable exterior views through previously inaccessible high windows while seated, establishing spatial hierarchy while maximizing natural light.

We deliberately distinguished new structures and finishes from existing elements to express 'layers of time.' Wood panels add warmth, while glass partitions maintain openness while functionally dividing spaces.

Modern systems including cable management, lighting, and HVAC were carefully integrated using minimal wall and ceiling elements, preserving the exposed structure and spatial quality of the original building. Circular motifs inspired by Leesungdang's traditional baking techniques provide unity throughout the space, connecting the company's history with its modern function.

This project preserves Gunsan's architectural and culinary heritage by maintaining the building's historical character while adapting it for contemporary use. We transformed an outdated office space into a modern workspace that respects historical context while meeting current needs. Through this process, we aimed to physically embody Leesungdang's corporate culture and values that have continued for over 75 years, instilling a sense of belonging and pride in employees.

Office 1969: Leesungdang Annex Regeneration demonstrates how historical buildings can be thoughtfully adapted to contemporary needs with minimal intervention, creating a meaningful dialogue between past and present while establishing functionality for the future.


Office 1969: 이성당 별관 재생 프로젝트는 한국에서 가장 오래된 빵집인 이성당의 별관 건물을 최소한의 개입으로 현대적 업무 공간으로 변모시킨 군산의 리노베이션 프로젝트입니다. 별관은 1969년에 지어져 현재까지 그때의 형태를 그대로 유지하며 시간의 기억을 간직하고 있습니다.

우리는 1945년부터 이어져 온 이성당의 풍부한 역사적 맥락을 존중하면서, 건물의 원형을 최대한 보존하는 방식으로 접근하였습니다. 건물의 노출된 구조체와 새로운 요소 간의 대비를 통해 시간의 층위를 시각화했으며, 임원실의 바닥 단을 높여 창을 통한 외부 조망을 확보함으로써 공간적 위계와 기능성을 동시에 충족하였습니다.

프로젝트의 주요 과제는 50년 이상 된 건물의 구조적 안정성을 확보하면서 원래의 건축적 특징을 최대화하는 것이었습니다. 노출된 콘크리트 천장과 기둥을 보존하고, 새로운 요소들을 기존 요소와 명확히 구분되도록 처리하여 과거와 현재 사이의 시각적 대화를 창출했습니다.

디자인은 최소 개입의 원칙에 따라 접근했습니다.

임원실의 바닥 레벨을 높여 기존에 앉은 상태에서는 접근하기 어려웠던 높은 창을 통한 외부 조망을 가능하게 했습니다. 이를 통해 자연광을 들이면서 동시에 공간적 위계를 확립했습니다.

새로운 구조물과 마감재를 기존 요소와 의도적으로 구분하여 '시간의 층위'를 표현했습니다. 목재 패널은 따뜻함을 더하고, 유리 파티션은 개방감을 유지하면서도 공간을 기능적으로 분리했습니다.

케이블 관리, 조명, 공조 시스템 등 현대적 설비를 최소한의 벽체와 천장만을 활용해 신중하게 통합하여 원래 건물의 노출 구조체와 공간감을 보존했습니다. 이성당의 전통 제빵 기법에서 영감을 받은 원형 모티프를 공간 전체에 적용하여 통일감을 부여하고, 회사의 역사와 현대적 기능을 연결했습니다.

이 프로젝트는 건물의 역사적 특성을 유지하면서 현대적 용도에 맞게 적응시킴으로써 군산의 건축 및 음식 문화 유산을 보존합니다. 낡은 사무 공간을 역사적 맥락을 존중하면서도 현재의 요구를 충족시키는 현대적인 작업공간으로 변모시켰습니다. 이러한 과정을 통해 75년 이상 이어온 이성당의 기업 문화와 가치를 물리적으로 구현하여 직원들에게 소속감과 자부심을 심어주고자 합니다.

Office 1969 : 이성당 별관 재생은 역사적 건물이 최소한의 개입으로 현대적 요구에 맞게 적응될 수 있음을 보여주며, 과거와 현재 사이의 의미 있는 대화를 창출하면서 미래를 위한 기능성을 만들고자 하는 프로젝트입니다.

Coffee Mellow


Coffee Mellow is a meticulously orchestrated space of aesthetic tranquility—a carefully curated environment where visitors experience complete visual and sensory rest during their time within it. Curated Serenity is not merely a design concept, but the fundamental principle governing every spatial decision.

The space is constructed through stark material contrasts. Cold, refined stainless steel intersects with the rough texture and weight of stone, emphasizing sculptural architectural beauty. The cool temperature of metal and stone is neutralized by a large-scale overhead panel light that casts uniform, diffused illumination across the bar counter, imparting visual stability to the entire space. Within this achromatic backdrop, strategic color becomes the visual anchor of the composition.

The chromatic progression from facade to interior wall surfaces articulates the brand's identity while introducing rhythmic vitality into the otherwise contemplative environment. This deliberate color language transforms the static space into one with measured visual movement, guiding perception without overwhelming it.

Mass and form are reduced to their essential sculptural expressions. This geometric restraint—achieved through intentional minimalism rather than arbitrary simplicity—creates sensory transparency. By relinquishing unnecessary intention, the space invites deeper engagement with the experience itself. Every element withdraws to allow consciousness to settle.

Coffee Mellow transcends a mere venue for coffee consumption. It is a finely calibrated spatial composition where meticulously calculated design elements converge to create an environment of heightened sensory awareness. Through every detail—from material selection to light diffusion to chromatic orchestration—the space articulates the precise texture of tranquility that the brand aspires to embody. 공간은 물성의 극명한 대비를 통해 구축합니다. 차갑고 정제된 스테인리스 스틸과 석재의 거친 질감, 무게감을 교차시켜 조형적 건축미를 강조합니다. 서늘한 금속과 돌의 온도는, 바 위로 넓게 떨어지는 대형 면조명의 균일하고 부드러운 빛으로 중화시켜 공간 전체에 시각적 안정감을 부여합니다.
