Studio 56

Studio 56 is studiohoon's own working studio — the place where every other project on this site begins. Located in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, the 170 sqm space combines a making workshop, a design office, and a quiet room for material study, allowing each phase of the design process to unfold within one continuous atmosphere.

The material palette is honest and pragmatic: exposed concrete grounds the space in the discipline of construction; paint and epoxy provide the maintainable surfaces that a working studio actually requires; stainless steel anchors the worktables and details with the precision the craft demands. Nothing is decorated — every surface is a tool.

Designing a studio for ourselves was, in many ways, an act of self-portraiture. The space proposes that the place where design is made should embody the same care, restraint, and rigor that the design itself proposes — that the studio is not a backdrop to the practice, but a continuous instrument of it.

스튜디오 56은 studiohoon이 직접 사용하는 작업 스튜디오입니다. 이 사이트의 모든 다른 프로젝트가 시작되는 공간이며, 강남구 논현동의 170sqm 안에서 메이킹 워크숍, 디자인 사무실, 그리고 자재 연구를 위한 조용한 방이 하나의 연속된 분위기 아래 공존합니다.

물성은 정직하고 실용적입니다. 노출 콘크리트는 공간을 건축의 기율 안에 자리잡게 하고, 페인트와 에폭시는 작업 스튜디오가 실제로 필요로 하는 유지 가능한 표면을 제공합니다. 스테인리스 스틸은 작업대와 디테일을 작업이 요구하는 정밀함으로 잡아줍니다. 어떤 것도 장식되지 않습니다. 모든 표면이 도구입니다.

우리 자신을 위한 스튜디오를 디자인한다는 것은, 여러 의미에서 자화상을 그리는 행위였습니다. 디자인이 만들어지는 장소는 그 디자인이 제안하는 것과 동일한 주의와 절제, 엄정함을 체현해야 한다는 - 스튜디오는 실천의 배경이 아니라 그 자체의 연속된 도구라는 — 제안입니다.
