A chair is a tool that compels a particular behavior — sitting — and through that compulsion, it adjusts the sensory temperature of a space and designates a psychological center. The chair is, in this sense, less furniture than a quiet form of spatial direction.
This study approaches the chair through wood and joinery: how the grain and the way pieces meet shape both the form of the seat and the experience of sitting in it. The aim is to reframe the chair not as a functional or ergonomic object that must be comfortable to sit on, but as an object that calibrates the psychological balance of a room. Wood, joint, and the act of sitting are read as one equation — how the structure beneath a body and the gesture asked of that body together set the room's tone.
의자는 사람에게 '앉는다'는 행위를 요구함으로써 공간 안의 행동을 정합니다. 그 요구를 통해 공간의 감각적 온도를 조정하고, 심리적인 중심을 지정합니다. 의자는 그런 의미에서 가구라기보다 공간을 조용히 지휘하는 하나의 형식입니다.본 스터디는 나무와 조인트를 통해 의자에 접근합니다. 결의 방향과 부재가 만나는 방식이 자리의 형태와 앉는 경험을 어떻게 빚어내는지를 살핍니다. 의자를 편안하게 앉기 위한 기능적·공학적 사물이 아니라, 공간의 심리적 균형을 다루는 오브제로 다시 정의하려는 시도입니다. 나무, 조인트, 그리고 앉는 행위를 하나의 등식으로 두고, 몸 아래의 구조와 그 몸에 요구되는 자세가 함께 공간의 톤을 어떻게 만들어내는지에 주목합니다.
